Morbid Angel (USA) - Altars Of Madness (1989)
Legendary artwork by none other than Dan Seagrave. If we don't count Abominations Of Desolation as an official album, then Altars Of Madness would have to be my favourite. I much prefer the Abominations versions of the songs that appear here, but you just can't go wrong with a song like Immortal Rites, that fucking intro riff! Actually, all of the Abominations songs here are some of the best, Evil Spells being a reworking of Welcome To Hell. Unfortunately Lord Of All Fevers And Plague is not present here as it was a bonus track released only on CD. Oh well, can't win them all.
