Witchhammer (Bra) - The First And The Last (1988)
Quite an intriguing release in my eyes. The album artwork is totally mystifying. Such cheap artwork, and who the fuck knows what the hell is going on in it, but that is what makes it so good. With a logo like theirs you'd expect something nasty and evil, but they are surprisingly tame compared to some of their fellow countrymen (Holocausto, Sarcofago etc.). It seems to be some sort of goofy, fun band at times (check the track Medicine Blues, what is that all about?) but when you put that with the archaic recording and typical South American vocal style of the time it comes off being better than you'd expect. Exactly the reason why it is a favourite of mine.
