Fester Fanatics (Aus) - What Choice Do We Have? (1987)

Its those McCormack brothers, Darren (Jed Star) and Shawn (Snuff Beastly) from Massive Appendage again.  This time teamed up with vocalist Alfie Fester and drummer Tubby Wadsworth to bring you some very interesting Thrash/Crossover.  I'm not too into that style, but what we have here instantly caught my attention at first listen.  Crossover, with a guitarist that shreds like Yngwie all over the album?  What?  Anyway, these guys can certainly play and write some really good riffs.  They also carry over the same type of humour from Massive Appendage, albeit less phallic.  In some places you can't tell if they are serious or not, and in others its totally clear they are just having some fun.  Check out Explorations In Free Form Jazz, its some sort of jazzy jam with what I believe to be Alfie talking to himself, having prank phone conversations with the other band members.  Listen to it for that explanation to make any sense at all.  Finally, there is the album closer, Tubby's Drum clinic.  The first half is a rant of Tubby's with the pitch shifted way up.  I wont bother explaining it any more, it just has to be heard.
