Rock Goddess (UK) - Rock Goddess (1983)

Rock Goddess (UK) - Rock Goddess (1983)

This is exactly the album I was talking about in the previous post about Leather Angel.  Whilst not their first recording, that honour going to a 12" the year before in 1982, this is the first of two albums released in the same year, 1983.  Girlschool had come and gone by now, at least for me.  Their first 4 are what really matters the most, and the fourth, Play Dirty was well and truly taken a step in the more commercial direction.  Luckily, Rock Goddess, even though having been around almost as long as Girlschool, picked up where they left off and released two hard as nails NWOBHM albums. Maybe it is just me fanboying over this shit, but I don't think there is a single weak track on this whole album, but then again maybe it is due to me overplaying this in my teens.  This album also spawned a single with the track My Angel.

Tracklisting:
  1. Heartache
  2. Back To You
  3. The Love Lingers Still
  4. To Be Betrayed
  5. Take Your Love Away
  6. My Angel
  7. Satisfied Then Crucified
  8. Start Running
  9. One Way Love
  10. Make My Night

Leather Angel (USA) - We Came To Kill (1982)

Leather Angel (USA) - We Came To Kill (1982)

Something about the guitar tone, something about the drumming on this album, something about the vocals, it all just works for me, I fucking love it.  If you've ever wondered what an all female Too Fast For Love era Motley Crue sounds like, this is it.  And yes, it's another EP.  I don't know what it is with chics in leather and red backgrounds, it is very reminiscent of the first Rock Goddess album.

Tracklisting:
  1. We Came To Kill
  2. Heartshaker
  3. Under Your Spell
  4. Askin' For It
  5. Need Your Love

Oral (UK) - Oral Sex (1985)

Oral (UK) - Oral Sex (1985)

This was something I stumbled upon in my quest all those years ago to find all female/female fronted metal bands.  The few people I do hear mentioning this always call the band Oral Sex.  No you fucking idiot, the EP is Oral Sex and the band is called Oral, is that so difficult to comprehend?  Very suggestive lyrics from an all girl metal band, what is there not to love?  Although nothing in the credits suggests it to be true, I have been informed by very reliable sources that Lemmy had something to do with this band.  Producing, managing, recording or whatever it may be, I just don't know, but it was something.  So I am told.

Black Leather, apart from being a really fucking good track, is also apparently a Sex Pistols song?  Or at least it is credited to Cook/Jones anyway, so I am assuming as much.

Tracklisting:
  1. Head
  2. Love Pole
  3. Gas Masks, Vicars And Priests
  4. Black Leather
  5. Pearl Necklace
  6. I Need Discipline

Pantera (USA) - I Am The Night (1985)

Pantera (USA) - I Am The Night (1985)

This is the last Pantera album I will touch, listen to, own and even want to know exists.  I don't care what you say or how many times you tell me that Power Metal is still a good album.  I refuse to give a fuck about it solely because of that cunt of a vocalist on there who I won't even fucking mention. Not on my fucking blog, not even out of anger, and there is plenty of that in regards to that sack of shit.

The music you say?  Well fuck, it's fucking good as fuck.  If I had to describe something similar I would say possibly Screaming For Vengeance if anything, very early 80's Judas Priest sounding.  And that's exactly what you fucking want.  The production is similar too, the bass doesn't kick you in the ballbag quite as hard as the previous album, but I believe it works a lot better that way for these songs as I think the songs on this album are a lot better than Projects In The Jungle.  Come On Eyes is probably my favourite song this band ever did.

Tracklisting:
  1. Hot And Heavy
  2. I Am The Night
  3. Onward We Rock
  4. D*G*T*T*M
  5. Daughters Of The Queen
  6. Down Below
  7. Come-On Eyes
  8. Right On The Edge
  9. Valhalla
  10. Forever Tonight

Pantera (USA) - Projects In The Jungle (1984)

Pantera (USA) - Projects In The Jungle (1984)

Hard to believe this is the same god-awful band that released all those albums to which I will not name in the 90's.  Now THIS is a fucking album!  That first album they did, yea it's good, but they really outdid themselves here.  The bass sounds fucking huge, right from the word go on All Over Tonite which is possibly the best song on the album.  That doesn't mean it lets up at all from there, this album is amazing, start to finish, even if Blue Lite Turnin' Red is a somewhat boring guitar solo track.

Tracklisting:
  1. All Over Tonite
  2. Out For Blood
  3. Blue Lite Turnin' Red
  4. Like Fire
  5. In Over My Head
  6. Projects In The Jungle
  7. Heavy Metal Rules

Nasty Savage (USA) - Penetration Point (1989)

Nasty Savage (USA) - Penetration Point (1989)

This would be the last album Nasty Savage did for a long time, but as far as I am concerned, it is their last and that 2004 album doesn't count.  The lineup is still the same as the early days save the bassist, so it's all pretty much still present.  Tracks like Welcome Wagon, Powerslam and Penetration Point are reminiscent of their early stuff.  There is no doubt this is Nasty Savage, even if they decided to go the plain clothes look instead of leather and metal in 1989.

Tracklisting:
  1. Welcome Wagon
  2. Irrational
  3. Ritual Submission
  4. Powerslam
  5. Sin Eater
  6. Penetration Point

Nasty Savage (USA) - Abstract Reality (1988)

Nasty Savage (USA) - Abstract Reality (1988)

I know I said I wasn't so impressed with this EP when I first heard it, but after years of ignoring it, it seems to have grown on me a little.  I mean, it definitely has nothing on the first album, but it is still well worth hearing, especially since it's only and EP and so short.  If it was an album maybe I'd lose interest a lot quicker.

Nasty Savage (USA) - Nasty Savage (1985)

Nasty Savage (USA) - Nasty Savage (1985)

My introduction to Nasty Savage was by chance picking up a record some really strange, surreal artwork and thinking, yea, this will do.  That album happened to be the 1988 Abstract Reality EP and I wasn't particularly impressed by it as much as I felt like I wanted to be.  It wasn't until a lot later I decided to give this one a try.  The artwork was just a logo, but I felt the logo was good enough to warrant a listen.  After getting my hands on a copy, just taking a look at the band photos on the back I knew this was going to be a lot better, something I would really enjoy.  After listening to this I quickly listened to it again straight away.  It just goes to show that usually when you have a band that looks like that you are in for something that sounds just like that too.  Usually, but sometimes I am quite disappointed.

Tracklisting:
  1. No Sympathy
  2. Gladiator
  3. Fear Beyond The Vision
  4. Metal Knights
  5. Garden Of Tempation (Intro)
  6. Asmodeus
  7. Dungeon Of Pleasure
  8. The Morgue

Living Death (Ger) - Protected From Reality (1987)

Living Death (Ger) - Protected From Reality (1987)

More of the same from these guys vocal wise.  If you like it, you love it, if you don't you fucking hate it, that's just the way Living Death is.  This album's production is a lot thicker and at times you can hear some Destruction style riffing of the Infernal Overkill flavour.

Tracklisting:
  1. Horrible Infanticide (Part One)
  2. Manila Terror
  3. Natures Death
  4. Wood Of Necrophiliac
