Alta Tensão (Bra) - Metalmorfose (1985)
Coming straight out of the capital of Mato Grosso du Sul, Campo Grande, these guys sing only in Portuguese. Right from the word go, as soon as you put the needle on the turntable, a low, deep voice speaks out, followed by a laugh. Then you hear that guitar, and the power chord comes in, and fuck, what a tone it is, especially when all the instruments come crashing in. This first track is a no nonsense heavy metal ball ripper. What a way to start off an album. In saying that, I am not sure whether to classify this as an album or an EP since its 8 songs all up, 7 if you don't include the intro, and it lasts for roughly 24 minutes. Short, but it makes up in its lack of length for exceptional quality. A lot of songs on here are a lot slower than what you hear on Submundo da Carne and have a slight blues feeling to them here and there. This is definitely one of my top picks of Heavy Metal from Brazil, there is no doubt about that.
